Owners Mark & Matt Holmes
Our journey began in Cambridge, England, where we grew up in and around pubs. For us the Pub was the heart of the community, the place to get together and socialize. Everyone felt welcome, whether they be families, singles, teams or business people. We loved hospitality and worked in some great restaurants and pubs, and we always talked about our dream of opening a place of our own together.
We moved to Southern California in the late 90’s and for almost 20 years we have been serving the Temecula Valley working for various food and beverage industry leaders. We have always loved our jobs but found it tough having moved half way across the world to live so close to each other, yet hardly are able spend time together because of our different schedules.
It’s exciting to now see our dream coming to life and we are truly honored to be able to host everyone in our first venture together - The Bridge on Third. The name came from our home town Cambridge, which we fondly call ‘the ‘bridge’, and is also symbolic of our lives so far, as the bridge represents overcoming obstacles and the forging of friendships. None of this would have been possible without the support of our family and friends, especially Rick Frisby. Rick is our partner, trusted advisor, driving force to get this amazing venue open, but foremost is our valued friend.
We feel we’ve created a unique place where you will feel very welcome, and will enjoy some of the finest food and drinks on this side of the pond! (and lots of footy!!)
As we used to say in England, “See you at the Bridge!”
Chef Jeffrey willett
Chef Jeffrey Willett was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland. Jeff grew up fishing and crabbing the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland with 3 generations of his family. His love for cooking and desire to make food to feed others came at a very young age, often trying to replicate dishes he had seen Julia Child or Justin Wilson make on TV. Jeff took his first job at a deli outside of Baltimore at the age of 14, where he sliced lunch meat and also made sandwiches to customers orders. Jeff went on to work in a few mom and pop pizzeria restaurants before spending 18 years manufacturing guitars, and managing various departments for Paul Reed Smith, Fender, and John Suhr guitars. After a very fulfilling career in manufacturing, Jeff decided it was time to pursue his passion to make food his career and enrolled at The International Culinary School at the Art Institute of California. While attending, Jeff took a job at a local Temecula pizzeria. During his 3 years there, Jeff worked his way to the head chef position.
Jeff went on to work as head chef at the Wayside Cafe in Fallbrook, sushi chef at Miso Harney sushi in Oceanside, and 3 years at the Restaurant at Leoness Cellars where he earned the title of Executive Sous Chef. After leaving Leoness Cellars, Jeff went on to become the executive kitchen manager at the Goat and Vine and then the Sous Chef and kitchen manager at a prominent Chop House in Old Town Temecula. When Jeff learned of the opening of The Bridge on Third he was so inspired by the concept that he began creating menu items for the restaurant. Jeff graciously accepted the position of Executive Chef of The Bridge on Third, A Modern English Pub. When Chef Jeffrey is not in the kitchen, you can find him riding the streets of Southern California on his Harley, or spending time with his girlfriend and their black Labrador and 3 English Bulldogs. Jeff is also the proud father of two beautiful young daughters.
Partners Rick and Sherry Frisby
Rick and Sherry Frisby are an integral part of The Bridge. Their relationship with Matt and Mark has developed over the years through mutual interests, and the two have become family. Matt approached Rick about his dream, and he jumped on as a partner to perform the remodeling construction at the pub. He saw a great opportunity to work with his two close friends and share their dreams of owning an English pub. Being a licensed building contractor for over forty years, owner of RMF Development Company, and building facilities for the YMCA's and Boys and Girls Clubs, Rick was the perfect person for the job. Him and his wife Sherry enjoy going to the River and Glamis Sand Dunes, riding their Harley's, and travelling in their motorhome.
The Bridge is fortunate to have the support of many local businesses.
